Friday! Enjoy your weekend! Eighth graders: Work on your research papers! Be sure to include your bibliography and in-text citations as you work. There will be time in class on Monday to work. Tuesday- Friday will be dedicated to Writer's Workshop. Bring your Writer's Journal to class each day. DI: Nouns packet due TUESDAY Seventh graders: Review questions 1-10 (page 124) due MONDAY. The Geography Bee is Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 8:45. Please wear Geography themed clothing!

Grade 8: Today we reviewed some of the basic requirements of the research paper: Introduction, Body, Conclusion 3 sources minimum (not Wikipedia) Equivalent of 3-5 BODY pages typed using size 12 font (Times New Roman) and double spaced in Microsoft Word Proper citations & bibliography Spell checked Grammar checked (punctuation, plurals, capital letters, complete sentences) No use of “I” unless it is in a direct quote No use of contractions unless they are in a direct quote No use of slang Margins: L: 1”, R: 1/2”, Top: 1”, Bottom: 1” Next week we will begin using our Writer's Notebooks and return to Greek & Latin roots worksheets. Grade 7: Questions 1-10 on page 124 (Reviewing Main Ideas) due MONDAY.

Grade 8: Continue to work on research paper. At this point, you should be starting to generate the body of the paper-- don't worry too much about grammar/spelling, but concentrate on getting all that you know on paper. You might also be reading lots about your topic right now. Document your sources so you can use quotes later! We are looking at an end-of-January due date. Grade 7: Read pages 87-92, do questions 2 & 3
